Two Months of Catching Up with the Pack

Here is a quick recap of the notable exploits at each of the Nevada Wolf Pack competitions stretching over the last two months on the track…………

Worth noting before the recap…….Nevada is red-shirting four of its top five scorers from this year’s WAC indoor championship during the current outdoor season. April Pate (multi eventer and hurdler), La Tijera Avery (HJ and LJ), and Angelica Earls (sprints) will have their senior outdoor seasons saved until next year when the Wolf Pack enters the Mountain West Conference. Two time WAC 1500 champion Sam Diaz (middle distances) is redshirting so that she has two full years of eligibility remaining over the next two years (she had previously redshirted a cross country and an indoor season). In addition, several younger distance runners are also redshirting.

April 6-7 Stanford Invite & San Francisco St Distance Carnival
-Debbie Amoah/Jr takes 5th in the Triple Jump Invitational at Stanford with an outdoor PR of 12.45m/40’ 10.25”.
-Mariah Gramolini/So slashes 2 seconds off her PR in the 800 clipping off a 2:10.10 for second in her heat at Stanford.
-Aislynn Mueller/Jr notches a season’s best 62.35 in the 400 Hurdles.
-Nicole Williams/Sr clears 1.71m/5’ 7.25” in the HJ
-Nicole Painter/Jr knocks almost 2 minutes off her 10,000 PR at the San Francisco St Distance Carnival! This is Painter’s third consecutive PR this outdoor season. Her previous two were at 3000 and 5000.
-Alissa Hood/Fr finishes only 9 seconds back of Painter in her 10,000 debut.
-In her redshirting transfer year, transfer Sam Calhoun runs a fine 11.69 to take fourth in the 100.
-Volunteer Assistant Coach Collier Lawrence slashes an incredible 27 seconds off her 3000m Steeplechase PR running 10:01.19 in her season opener to take third at Stanford. Her time is a B standard for the Olympic Trials.

March 31-April 1 Cal/Nevada Championships
-Kasha Knox/Fr hits a massive PR in the 200 to capture the title in the 26 team Championships running 24.44. Knox also takes second in the 100.

March 17 Hornet Invitational at Sacramento St
On a raw, cold day there were few PRs, the notable exception being Debbie Amoah’s fine 14.16 in the 100 Hurdles.
